| dc.description.abstract | This paper describes the results of our
experimental study on four binary systems containing o-chlorophenol (OCP) as the common component and the second
component is, cinnamaldehyde orbenzaldehyde or N,N-dimethylacetamide or
n-hexane. The measured speed of sound
(u), density ( ), viscosity ( ) and
refractive index ( ) and the computed acoustical
parameters at 303.15 K and at atmospheric pressure, identify strong molecular
interactions through hydrogen bonding in aldehyde and amide systems with OCP
while weak interaction in n-hexane
system. The influence of structure of components on the existing interactions
has also been revealed by the behaviour of volumetric parameters. The sign and
magnitude of excess parameters clearly indicate the presence of specific
interactions among the components. The excess parameters were fitted to
polynomial type Redlich-Kister (RK) equation and the coefficients of the
fitting were found to support the present investigation. The validity of
various theoretical models applied to the present systems has been studied
through the calculated values of absolute average percentage deviation (AAPD).
