The coordination behaviour of semi- and thiosemi- ligands having the donor groups  N∩O or N∩S towards aluminium(III) has been studied. The unimolar, bimolar and trimolar reactions of aluminium isopropoxide with monobasic bidentate ligands result  in the formation of coloured solids which have been characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determinations and conductance measurements. The UV, IR and NMR spectral studies indicate pentacoordinated and hexacoordinated geometries for the resulting complexes. Both the ligands and their complexes have been screened for their fungicidal and bactericidal activities. en_US
