Tellurium(IV) is quantitatively extracted from halide media using triphenylarsine oxide (TPAsO) and tributylphosphine oxide (TBPO) as extractants. The optimum extraction conditions are critically evaluated and discussed. The nature of extracted species is deduced along with the probable mechanism of extraction. The method affords binary separation of tellurium(IV) from associated elements and has been further extended to the analysis of alloy samples.en_US
