Abstract: Pattern formation in the Belousov-Zhabotinskii reaction has been investigated in a continuously fed unstirred gel reactor with some improvements in the reactor design. The modified reactor does not need an external pressure gradient to remove CO2 bubbles. Instead of expensive capillary arrays a cheap porous diaphragm is used to ensure that there is some non-perpendicular flow with respect to the plane of wave propagation during feeding.
