Abstract: The electrochemical characteristics of cefotaxime in the presence of sodium lauryl sulphate and the sensitization of the surfactant have been studied by normal pulse polarography, cyclic voltammetry and chromoeoulometry. The data show that the surfactant can promote the adsorption of the drug on the mercury electrode and improve the re versibility of electrode reaction of cefotaxime. The recommended single-sweep polarographic procedure has been used for the determination or cefotaxime in urine and serum samples.
