| Abstract: | The macrocyclic complexes [(PbMac1)Z2] - [(PbMac4)Z2] (Z= CI , NO3 or CH3COO) containing 14-1 8 - membered rings have been synthesized by the template condensation reactions of malonic acid and succinic acid with 1,2-aminoethane and 1,3-diaminopropane in methanol medium. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductance measurements, molecular weight determinations and IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. Molecular weight determination of these complexes indicates their monomeric nature. The molar conductance values indicate non-electrolytic behaviour of lead(II) complexes. Spectroscopic studies confirm coordination of amide nitrogen to the central lead ion. An octahedral geometry for these complexes has been proposed. |
