| Abstract: | Michael addition of diethyl malonate over 2,2'-sulfonyl-bis(1,3-diarylprop-2-en-1-ones 1a-e in the presence of sodium ethoxide furnish 4,4-diethoxycarbonyl-2,6-diaroyl-3,5-diarylthiane-1,1-dioxides 2a-e in very good yields. The stereochemistry of 2a-e has been deduced from 1H NMR spectroscopic data. |
