| Abstract: | On UV irradiation, coumarins 1-6 and 1,4-naphthoquinones 7-11 with dimethyl sulfoxide in tertiary butyl alcohol under nitrogen atmosphere give corresponding 4-methylcoumarins 12-17 and 2- methyl-1,4-naphthoquinones 18-22 selectively in a single step facile reaction with good yields. |
