| Abstract: | The reaction of 2, 3-pyridinediamine 1a and its 5-bromo analogue 1b with 2-phenyl-3,1 -benzoxazin-4(H)-one 2 in refluxing acetic acid leads to the formation of 2-(2'-N-benzoylaminophenyl)imidazo[ 4. 5-b]pyridine 3a and 6-bromo-2-(2'-N-benzoylaminophenyl)imidazo[4, 5-b]pyridine 3b as products. A mechanistic pathway for the formation of 3 is described. |
