| Abstract: | A facile synthesis of 2,3-diaryl-6-(m-tolyl)-cis-3,3a-dihydropyrazolo[3,4-d]-s-tri azolo[3,2,-b]thiazole 3 has been achieved by the condensation of 5-(m-tolyl)-s- trialzole-3-thione 1 with chloroacetic acid and aldehydes in the presence of acetic anhydride, anhydrous sodium acetate and glacial acetic acid to yield 5-(p-methoxybenzylidene)-2-(m-tolyl)-s-triazolo[3, 2-b]thiazol-6(5H)-one 2 followed by treatment with arylhydrazines. The structures of triazoles 3 have been supported by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectral data. The antibacterial and antifungal activities of some of the compounds have also been evaluated. |
