A study was under taken to exp lore the possibility of manufacturing barrier base paper, from indigenous raw materials. Use of indigenous raw materials develop important properties like, klemn absorbency, wet strength, and castor oil penetration, which are essentially required for barrier base paper. Another important property is the high opacity, which is required to prevent, see through problems in sun-mica. Using TiO2 filler can solve this defect in sun mica. The laboratory made barrier paper fulfils all the requirements.en_US
