The paper attempts to define indicators of Techno-Management Capability in firms. That is the managerial ability of technological progress paths that are technology-intensive, dynamic complex and risky. The study shows how India developed over the last fifteen years in the area of electronics because of its target oriented electronics policy. Nevertheless, it could not compete internationally, especially in hardware because of weak component base. The paper concludes with some suggestions to develop Indian software industry where India could compete with other developing countries.en_US
