| Abstract: | Indigo was recovered from a textile effluent using a method of acid precipitation followed by purification with acetone. Structural studies using UV\visible spectroscopy showed that the recovered indigo has λmax at 600 nm. The results showed a preponderance of the cis-isomer. Recovery of indigo gave better quality effluent. |
