Abstract: Suggestive measures for minimizing energy and heat losses in Indian sugar industries are discussed. Suggestions are enumerated to achieve the target of effective conservation of energy, heat and fuel through modernization of equipments and technology. Use of alternative sources of energy like solar energy, bioenergy, etc. for power generation and utilization of byproducts of sugar industry by value addition, to increase the profitability of this sector is also discussed.
