| Abstract: | Me4dibenzo (b, i) 1,4,8,11-tetraaza cyclotetradecatetraene cobalt(II) macrocyclic complex has been used as catalyst for the oxidation of substituted thiophenols viz., 4methyl, 4-methoxy, 3- amino etc. The catalyst seems to be as effective as its unsubstituted macrocycle. The yield of diphenyldisulphide is 70%. The rate of oxidation of thiols is affected by methyl groups on the macroeyclic ring and it may be due to electronic or steric effect. |
