| Abstract: | Dicopper (II) complexes with an octadentate chelating ligand N,N,N',N',N"-pentakis(benzimidazol-2-yl methyl) diethylenetriamine [DTPB] have been synthesized and characterised. Cyclic voltammetric studies reveal the existence of two distinct quasireversible couples, a feature supporting the presence of two copper (II) ions in the binucleating ligand cavity. Low temperature X-band EPR studies provide support for a weak magnetic exchange interaction between the two copper (II) ions via the ligand bridge. Room temperature magnetic moment data also support the above formulation. |
