| Abstract: | Biologically active tin (II) complexes of tetraaza macrocycles have been synthesized by the template process using malonic acid, succinic acid and adipic acid with 1,2-phenylenediamine and 2,6-diaminopyridine. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight determinations, molar conductance, infrared and 1H NMR spectral studies. The elemental analyses are consistent with the formulation of complexes as [Sn(MaCn)Cl2]. All the complexes are stable and monomeric in nature as indicated by their molecular weights. The spectral studies confirm the proposed framework of the new macrocyclic complexes and the coordination of amide nitrogen to the central metal. An octahedral geometry for these complexes has been proposed. The biological activities of starting materials and their metal complexes have been studied against pathogenic fungi. |
