Abstract: Administration of a synthetic precocene analogue, 7-ethoxy-6-methoxy-2, 2-dimethyl chromene (ethoxyprecocene) to fifth and last instar larvae of Spodoptera litura causes juvenilizing effects such as prolongation of life of penultimate and last larval instar and subsequent postponement of pupation, ecdysial failure, formation of abnormal pupae and larval-pupal intermediates. These effects can be reversed by juvenile hormone application.
