Abstract: Cam-controlled planetary gear trains (CCPGTs) are planetary gear trains with cam pairs. One of its main advantages is that it can produce a wide range of non-uniform output motion. The investigations on the kinetostatic and mechanical efficiencies of CCPGTs are performed. The purpose of the work is to propose a systematic approach of kinetostatic and mechanical analyses for CCPGTs, it aims at conducting theoretical analysis to obtain all the equations for the related analyses and the succeeding design. First, kinematic analysis is performed, and kinematic equations are derived. Then, kinetostatic analysis is conducted, the forced acting on each member and the equations of friction forces and couples are derived, and the solving procedure is also presented. In addition, shaking forces and moments, mechanical efficiency, and required input power are obtained.
