Abstract: The effect of addition of dimethyl formamide on the conductivity and solvation behaviour of BiCl3 in CH3OH and CH3CN at four different temperatures has been reported. In both the solvents, the conductivity is found to decrease and the solvation is found to increase on addition of DMF at all temperatures. Kraus-Bray and Shedlovsky conductivity models have been used to evaluate the limiting molar conductance, dissociation and association constants. Ion pair formation constant and triple Ion constant have also been computed. Walden product and thermodynamic parameters are also reported. Solvation number of the species of BiCl3 has been calculated in pure solvents by the mobility method.
