Abstract: Four solid cryptates of a cage-type N2O6-heteroatom cryptand (L) with RE(III) nitrates (RE = Y, Ln, Gd, Yb) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, thermogravimetric analyses and molar conductance measurements. Data show that the cryptand forms stable complexes with rare earth nitrates in the ratio 2:1 with the general formula RE2(NO3)6.L·H2O. The structure suggested based on the study is [RE(L)(NO3)(H2O)][RE(NO3)5]
