Title: Direct determination of metals in aerosols by impaction-graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry—An update and new application
Authors: Sneddon, Joseph
Issue Date: Dec-2003
Publisher: NISCAIR-CSIR, India
Abstract: Using impaction-graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry, the determination and concentration of selected metals in the plume or smoke from burning Venezuelan crude oil in a few seconds under controlled conditions in the laboratory are presented. The relatively volatile (cadmium and zinc) and medium volatile metals (lead and manganese) are removed in the smoke whereas non-volatile metals (vanadium) are not removed in smoke from burning oil.
