| Abstract: | 2-Chloromethyl-3-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one 1 is converted to the azide 4 which easily undergoes cyclisation to give 2- quinazolinonyl imidazolidinones 5. The azides, however, yield 2,3-dimethylquinazolin-4(3H)-one 6 and/or 2-aryl-aminomethyl-3-methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one 2 under thermal, microwave and in acidic medium. |
