| Abstract: | Diaryl ditellurides are conveniently reduced by a system consisting of CeCl3/Sm in tetrahydrofuran to produce the aryltellurolates. This new tellurolate anion species react smoothly with α,β-unsaturated esters (and nitriles) to give β-telluroesters (and nitriles) in modetrate to good yields. |
