| Abstract: | Various 3-aryloxymethyl-3,4-dihydroisocoumarins 5a-l have been synthesized by alkylation of the ortho-lithio derivatives of N-methyl benzamides 2a-c with 2-aryloxymethyl oxiranes 3a-d followed by the alkaline hydrolysis of the resultant intermediates 4a-1. |
