| Abstract: | 4-Substituted-3,4-dihydro-5-cyano-6-methyl-2(1H)-pyridones obtained in high yield in a one pot synthesis by reacting α,β-unsaturated acid chlorides with 3-aminocrotononitrile are converted quantitatively to the corresponding novel hydrogenated pyridinethiones by Lawesson's reagent. |
