Two new alkaloids, 1-formyl-3-methoxy-6-methylcarbazole 1 and 6,7-dimethoxy-1-hydroxy-3-methylcarbazole 2, have been isolated from the leaves of Murraya koenigii. Both the compounds have been identified by spectral as well as chemical evidences, and their structures confirmed by synthesis.
