Abstract: The influence of gauge length on the tensile strength of ring and rotor yarns has been investigated. A modified Weibull distribution has been applied among the tenacity values of cotton, polyester and polyester- cotton ring and rotor yarns. The Weibull distribution was verified through the Kolmogorov goodness test. The tenacity of all the ring and rotor yarns studied is round to decrease with the increase in gauge length and fits well with Weibull distribution. The strength variation is found to be high at lower gauge lengths in all the cases studied.
