| dc.description.abstract | Reaction of glycine with ninhydrin in sodium acetate-acetic acid buffer solutions (pH = 5.0) at 70°C is catalyzed by cationic micelles of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB). The catalytic efficiencies of these micellar systems increase by some added electrolytes for the nucleophilic attack of amine group on carbonyl carbon of ninhydrin. The catalysis can be related to the extent of incorporation/association of reactants into/with the micelles. The efficiency of anions as catalyst follow the sequence: benzoate > chloride ≃ bromide ≃ salicylate > tosylate > sulphate. | en_US |
