| Abstract: | The effect of inter-fibre friction and tuft behaviour during yarn preparation on yarn quality has been studied. The higher level of inter-fibre friction is observed on application of spin finish (polyethylene glycol) which improves the inter-fibre cohesion and positively influences the yarn evenness, breaking strength, elongation-at-break and hairiness. The tuft behaviour at different friction levels improves but mixed trend is observed for the yarn quality parameters, perhaps due to the uneven fibre slippage. |
