Abstract: A positive tappet shedding mechanism with simple design and 35% less number of components than in the existing system has been developed for weaving plain cloths. In this mechanism, only one grooved tappet actuates the two healds in both upward and downward directions. The mechanism is so designed and fitted on the loom that it enables easy and quick setting and produces much improved nature of heald movement which is expected to minimize the warp breakages at weaving.
