| Abstract: | The present paper reports study on the interaction effect of elastane stretch, proportion of elastane core and twist multiplier on tensile and low-stress mechanical properties of woven fabrics made from stretchable elastane-cotton core-spun yarns. A three-variable factorial design technique, proposed by Box & Behnken, has been used to investigate the combined interaction effect of the above variables on various tensile (breaking load and elongation) and low-stress mechanical characteristics (shear rigidity, shear hysteresis, bending rigidity, bending hysteresis, linearity of compression thickness curve, compressional energy, compressional resilience) of fabrics. It has been observed that the tensile and low-stress mechanical characteristics of woven fabrics made from elastane core-spun yarns are significantly influenced by the process parameters. But, no specific trend is observed in breaking elongation of fabrics for any of the process variables. |
