| Abstract: | The conformation of the epitope - fragment 579 to 601 - in the gp41 transmembrane domain of HIV -1 has been studied by 2D-NMR and theoretical methods. Molecular dynamics simulations using a total of 80 nOe 's as distance restraints and 22 dihedral restraints have been used to determine the solution structure. The peptide adopts a β-pleated sheet in DMSO. Full relaxation matrix analysis carried out on the simulated structures gives an R-factor of 0.46. |
