Reaction of 2-hydroxycyclohexanone with vanadium (V) in aq. acetic acid containing HClO4 is first order each with respect to [V (V)] and [H+]. The dependence on [2-hydroxycyclohexanone] is two. Substrate oxidant stoichiometry is observed to be 1:2. Decomposition of a complex formed between two molecules of 2-hydroxycyclohexanone and one molecule of V(V) has been proposed as the slow step.en_US
