The crystal structure of the title compound (C13H9NOCl2) has been determined by X-ray crystallographic techniques. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group Pl with unit cell parameters: a = 9.717(3), b = 10.104(3), c = 13.636(3) Å, α = 80.36(2), β = 78.20(2), γ = 70.07(2 )o, Z = 4. The structure has been solved by direct methods and refined to R = 0.051 for 3310 observed reflections and wR(F2) = 0.149. There are two crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. In both the molecules, the phenyl rings are planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by van der Waals forces.en_US
