Non-destructive testing methods based on different hologram interferometric techniques have achieved a great importance for different research and industrial applications. Hologram interferometric (HI) techniques can be used wherever the presence of a structural weakness results in localized deformation of the surface when the specimen is stressed, either by the application of a load or by a change in pressure or temperature. On account of the high measuring accuracy of these techniques, they offer a unique application for non-destructive diagnosis of incipient faults or critical damages in precious and ancient artifacts, paintings, sculptures, and monuments caused due to environment effects and aging. Non-destructive testing methods based on different HI techniques; such as double-exposure, real-time, and sandwich HI have been investigated for detection of micro-crack defects in cultural artifacts. Experimental results achieved for micro-crack detection studies on different types of artifacts are discussed.en_US
