Dielectric constant ɛ. loss tan δ ac conductivity σ LiF-PbO-B2O3 glasses with increasing concentration of PbO (in the range 0-60mol % in steps of 20 mol%) are studied in the frequency range 102-107 Hz and in the temperature range 30-300O C. The dc conductivity and dielectric breakdown strength of these glasses are also measured. The values of ɛ, tan σac and σde, are found to increase with increase in the concentration of PbO. Activation energy for ac conduction, dc conduction and the value of dielectric breakdown strength arc round to decrease with increase in the concentration of PbO. With the help of infrared, spectra increase in the values of ɛ and tan δ with frequency and temperature are identified due to space charge polarization. An attempt has been made to explain ac conduction phenomenon on the basis of quantum mechanical tunneling model (QMT)/carrier-barrier hopping model. en_US
