The results of luminescence, absorption and XRD studies of some (ZnS:1% wt CaS) and (CaS:1% wt ZnS) phosphors when doped with impurities like Cu. Sm/Pr and Cl have been presented. Emission peaks at 420 nm (due to Cu), 480 nm (due to Zn) and in the region 730-740 nm (due to Sm Sm/Pr) have been found. Absorption spectra consists of a number of peaks due to nattive lattice alongwith the presence of different ingredients used. ZnS based systems have been found to be more susceptible to oxidation.en_US
