dc.description.abstractUse of lindane pesticide is well known in agriculture and for other purposes. Oral route is one of the major routes of pesticides exposure in man and animals. Lindane generally enters the gastrointestinal tract with food and water. Intestinal epithelial cells are the primary targets of its interaction. Exposures of Lindane under short-term starvation and fasting-feeding conditions have been studied in rat intestinal epithelial cell membrane enzymes and constituents. It is evident from the findings that starvation and fasting-feeding schedule upsets the normal functioning of intestinal epithelial cells. Ingestion of lindane further elevates the digestion and absorption functions. en_US
