Title: Effcet of Biofertilizer on the Cultivation of Ber and Pomegranate in Desert Areas

Abstract: Nitrogen fixing bacteria (Azotobactor and Azospirillum) and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (Glomus fasciculatum and G. mosseae) have been isolated from the rhizosphere soil and roots of ber (Zizyphus mauritana Lam. Var  rotundifolia) and pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), and maintained as pure cultures. Upon inoculation in the nursery soil, per cent seed germination, plant height, root length and plant dry weight were improved significantly as compared to that of uninoculated ones. Three years after transplantation of month old seed ling in the field, fruit production was started. The fruit production was significantly enhanced upon inoculation with these biofertilizers with maximum production upon dual inoculation with Azotobacter/Azopirillum and G. mosseae.
