Abstract: Biologists have firm faith that red blood cells and haemoglobin at each stage of life indicate the status of health. Where their being below normal is a matter of serious concern their being above normal also indicates unfavourable results. Physiologists believe that water soluble ascorbic acid— very well known as vitanun C—lays positive effects on blood cells and synthesis of haemoglobin. Biologically highly important this vitamin having anti-oxidant and pro-oxidant property has been brought to notice by the modern biologists. The present paper deals with the administration of medium and high doses of ascorbic acid among the juvenile and adult rabbits and consequent status of red blood cells and haemoglobin level in their blood.
