Representing the heavy fermion systems by the periodic Anderson model, we use variational method to study the behaviour of electronic specific heat Cv(T) and magnetic susceptibility   s(T) of these systems. We have studied the effect of intra-site s-f interactions on the properties. We find that as s-f interactions increase, the low temperature peak in Cv lowers in magnitude whereas the peak in s lowers, broadens and shifts a bit towards high temperature region.en_US
