| Abstract: | The ultrasonic velocity and absorption coefficient measurement have been carried out in selected rock specimens collected from different pans of Tamilnadu (India) using the pulse echo overlapping technique. The measurement of density and open porosity along with the thin section analysis (petrographic analysis) and the megascopic analysis of the specimen have also been carried out to interpret the observed variations in velocity in term of grain size, mineralogical composition and porosity. The results obtained highlight the physical, textural and structural properties of rock specimens. |
