Carries out an analysis of theses accepted for award of Ph.D. and research in progress in various Indian universities from 1987 to 1997 trying to provide foundation for examining the performance of library and information science (LIS) research. Presents the results of the study with the goal of broadening the perspectives of the LIS research community and to help them to debate on the nature and proper direction of the research.en_US
