Abstract: The observations and recommendations arising from different seminars and committee reports including the role of the University Grants Commission (UGC) in Library & Information Science (LlSc) education are noted. Critically examines various recommendations of the UGC Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) in LlSc (1993) in the context of the experiences of the Department of Library and Information Science at Vidyasagar University, Midnapore and suggestions for their implementation are offered. Modular curriculum has been proposed as an alternative to the master plan recommended by the COG.
