The new edition of Colon Classification brought out after a long interval, has incorporated most of the developments in the idea plane and notational plane reported in Library Science with a Slant to Documentation and DRTC Annual Seminar volumes during the last two decades, making it a 'freely faceted' scheme. But at the same time some errors have crept into it which are bound to create problems for the users. Both these aspects have been critically examined here drawing comparison, where necessary, with the previous edition of the scheme. The study reveals the enormously improved capabilities of the scheme in meeting the challenge posed by the ever expanding horizon of the universe of subjects as 'also the inconsistencies and lack of cohesion in various schedules.en_US
