Abstract: Describes the results of a project undertaken to study the administrative structures of Nigerian college of education libraries and the powers and authorities of their head librarians. A mail questionnaire was used in data collection. The results show that in most colleges the library is accorded the same status as an academic department and the College Librarian is directly accountable to the Principal or Provost. Most college librarians have inadequate executive powers and this has adverse effects on the quality of library services in the colleges. Suggestions are made for improving the situation.
