| Abstract: | Describes the salient features of a pilot project on the establishment of a computerized document: handling system covering the resources of the Institute of Armament Technology, and other sister establishments in the Defence Research and Development Organization. Discusses the problems involved in the system design, particularly relating to subject indexing. On the completion of the pilot project, the system has been established for Poona based establishments, and is working satisfactorily for the past two years. The system is based on batch processing and now efforts are being made to convert it into on-line. |
