| Abstract: | Many attempts have been made to compile bibliographies on various aspects of development of science and technology in China. In this contribution 88 such bibliographies have been listed under broad subject headings. A study has been made of their subjects, period of compilation and country of issue, which reveal interesting facts. Happenings inside China have influenced compilation of bibliographies on different subjects. For example, a bibliography on nuclear research in China was compiled in the U.S in the same year, when China exploded an atom bomb. Further, very little is known about the information activities in China, though "The Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China", has been functioning for quite some time. Several bibliographies listed are of general nature. There is need to compile annotated and up-to-date bibliographies on specific aspects of development in China. |
