A geographical analysis of the production of journals in India showed some interesting trends as regards their nature, number and the interests of their contributors and publication agencies. The overall dominance of publications in the subject groups of Social Sciences and Applied Sciences and Technology from every angle to that of Pure Sciences was significantly noticed. The number of individual towns significantly positively correlated with the number of publications with a few exceptions. Most of the States produced almost 30 percent of their total publications on the subjects of maximum production. Out of 302 towns which were active in journal production. Only 14 towns were found to be the most active.en_US
